Tim Brown, Chief Executive at Jersey Post said, “With a successful structure working for the development of the senior game in Jersey, we were keen to continue our support for the juniors so that their talent can be developed at island level. We’re pleased to be able to work alongside Guernsey Post for this initiative again this year as we both believe that supporting the game a grassroots level is essential for the future of the sport in both islands.”

The junior inter-insulars have been part of the annual inter-island game for many years, and give local youngsters in both islands the chance to train within the cricket development system and work towards gaining a place in the team for their age group.

Boley Smiley, Chief Executive at Guernsey Post stated, “We are very pleased to continue our support of these matches for a further year. Supporting young, sporting talent in our Island is essential for the future of the game, but also to continue to build Guernsey’s great sense of community in the younger generation.”

The matches are set to be closely fought contests and spectators are welcome to attend. Each match will start at 11:00 and should finish around 17:00. The trophies will be presented at the respective pavilions shortly after the matches finish.

The remaining inter-island cricket match is the senior event which is taking a new format this year because of the ICC Europe Sub-Regional T20 Qualifier match dates. The senior inter-insular trophy will now be played as a “best of three” T20 series with the matches taking place in Jersey at the Farmers CC at 17:00 on Friday 17 August and at 11:00 and 14:00 on Saturday 18 August.
