Our postie James is a passionate runner - when he’s not out doing deliveries in St Saviour or St Martin!
He’s taking on the half marathon in Orkney for the first time. His aim is to complete the course in 1 hour 11 minutes. “The course is very hilly. It could mean it’s more a tactical race than a speed one. Luckily being in Jersey gives us loads of options to train on the hills!”
James has taken part in five official marathons, including three in Jersey and two in London, and has taken part in the Round the Rock Ultra Marathon. A highlight for James was coming third in the Jersey Marathon in 2024, beaten only by elite runners, in 2:31:53. He set the fastest time for a Jersey person.
Training for the Island Games started in April and includes running about 100km a week, as well as a couple of early morning gym sessions before work. Alcohol is now off the menu until after the event!
Good luck James – we’ll be cheering you on!
