MoneyGram to cease trading in Jersey

Posted • 23 December 2022

MoneyGram has taken the decision to cease trading in Jersey from 23 December 2022.

As a result, Jersey Post is unable to provide MoneyGram send services from Friday 23 December. For any receiving and refund transactions made before the 23 December, customers have until 23 March 2023 to collect these transactions from the post offices that currently offer MoneyGram services, which can be found here.

FAQs

Why is Jersey Post unable to offer MoneyGram services next year?
Unfortunately, MoneyGram has recently advised Jersey Post that as of 23 December, they will be exiting the territory and therefore will no longer offer any money transfer services to and from the Island. For any receiving and refund transactions made before the 23 December, customers have until 23 March 2023 to visit a post office to collect these transactions.

What alternative options are there for customers?
Once MoneyGram exits Jersey, there will be no available money transfer service available through Jersey Post. Customers wishing to make money transfer transactions could consider using their bank account to transfer funds into a recipient bank account, or there are other money transfer providers that can be found online.

Which post offices will be affected?
The post offices that sell MoneyGram on Island are:

  • Broad Street
  • Rue des Pres
  • St Clement
  • Gorey
  • Roseville Street
  • St John
  • St Ouen
  • St Aubin
  • Milbrook

How are the receiving and refund transactions collected after 23 December?
Any receiving and refund transactions processed before the 23 December can be collected up to 23 March 2023 for the above listed post offices.
