Our SecureDrop service is changing.
We’re are doing a phased rollout of our new SecureDrop service, featuring electronic tags (eTags), which will make SecureDrop even more efficient, reliable, and convenient for you.
Benefits of the new electronic SecureDrop service:
As part of this roll out, we are combining our old SecureDrop Neighbour and Home services, so you’ll need to upgrade to our full SecureDrop service. To update any of your details and upgrade, please email us on securedrop@jerseypost.com.
It’s also really important to check we have your correct address and SecureDrop location on your account.
What is an eTag?
Electronic tag technology, or eTags, are small, discreet tags that that we’ll place in a visible location near your letterbox. We strive to closely match the tag to the surface we place the tag on, ensuring a seamless appearance.
Once installed, it’s really important that you don’t move your eTag so we can find it easily and you remove your old barcode from any locations on your property.
Your delivery officer will arrive at your property with your parcel and look for the eTag at affixed at the normal delivery point.
Your delivery officer will scan the eTag with their scanner which will advise them of your SecureDrop location e.g. in the shed or in the apartment mail/post room.
Your delivery officer will safely deliver your parcel to your SecureDrop location as advised on the scanner.
You will the receive a real time email or text notification of the successful delivery. If the customer does not wish to receive an email or text, a card will be put through the letter box.
Yes, the eTags do not store any personal or delivery information on them and access is encrypted and only readable by our handheld devices.
The eTag needs to be in a visible location at your normal delivery point so that when the delivery officer arrives at your property, they can scan it to find out where your safe place is. There are limited options on where the eTag can go , so we will likely affix it on a flat surface on your front door, either above or below your letterbox. Generally, we will affix one eTag per household, but if you live in a block of flats or shared accommodation we may only apply one eTag in the lobby, which residents will share.
Yes, we will continue to deliver to your safe place location, but we will no longer need the barcode that is in your safe place location, as the eTag will now hold all the delivery information and act as proof of delivery when scanned. Once the eTag is affixed at your property, you may wish to remove the old barcode in your safe place location as it will no longer be required.
