Do you need to know where your item is at any point in its journey? Is your item valuable? Our range of extra postage add-ons allow you to take those extra precautions when sending.

The postage rate you pay will be calculated by the format, weight and destination of the item, with the additional price of one of the add-ons below.

What we offer

Signed for

To add extra security:

  • The person receiving the item needs to sign on delivery.
  • Find out when your item has been delivered online.

Includes compensation cover up to £30 in the unlikely event of loss or damage* 

Tracked & signed

To track your item every step of the way:

  • Track items at every sorting and delivery depot
  • The person receiving the item needs to sign on delivery.
  • Includes compensation cover up to £100 (for large parcels there is a fee of £3.50 for £100 cover).*

Extra cover

Choose the level of extra cover you need in the unlikely event of loss or damage*

  • The maximum level of cover for Signed for items is £500
  • The maximum level of cover for EU destinations is £500
  • The maximum level of cover for ROW destinations is £100

More about these services

  • All items leave Jersey the same day subject to boat departures. Jersey Post does not have control over the receiving postal authority’s service delivery times.
  • Please pre-pay VAT when possible to avoid delays.
  • Available to 70 worldwide destinations - not all add-on options are available to all destinations
  • We use Royal Mail labels for tracking information only.
  • Royal Mail aims to deliver Tracked & signed items by 1pm  the day after they receive the item. Royal Mail is a separate postal authority and Jersey Post doesn't have control over their service.
  • Tracked & signed items are subject to customs unless VAT has been pre-payed.
  • All large parcels are sent using our Tracked & signed service, however this does not include the £100 compensation, so Extra cover must be added separately.
  • Our Extra cover service does not include cover for delayed delivery, if you need extra special handling and monitoring, please use our FedEx courier service.

Sending a large letter of 500g to London that you want to track through the postal network, check that it has arrived, ensure £500 compensation in the unlikely event it’s lost or damaged, and want it to arrive on Saturday instead of Monday:

We have standard and premium postage services, which makes it easier for you to choose the right service when sending items of mail to anywhere in the world.

Simply choose the postage type and destination and then add tracking or enhanced compensation as needed.

If you are sending a gift, you can post your gift using our standard service, but we recommend that customers use the premium tracked and signed service when sending items of value (please note that VAT is payable on both gifts over £39.00 and premium postage).

This is the only service available that has full tracking and offers insurance up to the value of £2,500.00. Gifts are currently subject to a maximum value of £873.00 HMRC Notice 143.

*Please note that there will be a handful of occasions throughout the year, due to earlier tide times, when we must bring our post office cut off times forward to ensure same day despatch on the ferry service. On these occasions we will provide notice on our service updates page. 

Yes, provided that the service used to send the item was a trackable service.

  • We have a Track and Trace tool.
  • Please note that only Royal Mail reference numbers can be used in the tracker.
  • To track an item sent using a courier service, you should use their website to track your item instead.
